In the world’s 63rd Most Expensive city
In a study I read, it was noted that Lagos is the World’s 63rd Most Expensive City. How true! It took my mind back to an event that happened on September 15 2005.
A trailer carrying a load of sardines upturned a little just after Ikeja main bridge. It was painful to see my people scurrying and fighting to pick sardines from the road, off themselves and even from the gutter.
(Sorry, I must have lost the pictures, if I find them I’ll let you know)
Nigerian Banks, Nigerian ID Card
Sometime ago, I was given a cheque to cash from Wema Bank Maryland. I woke up in the morning, feeling good that I am going to have some cash to spend for the weekend, and arrived @ the bank with 1000 kobo. Waited in line like a dutiful citizen of our great nation and was politely attended to by the “clerk”.
Guess the good news, I could only withdraw if I had a Driver’s License or International Passport. Ouch! I dont have any of those, what about my National ID Card. Sorry, I was politely told that it was “irrelevant” here and as such…..
I don’t have a car, I don’t know how to drive, therefore I dont have a driver’s license.
I have never left my country, I don’t have an International Passport. Are you saying “i cant receive money without those 2″
I had the matter resolved after walking to Anthony to and fro and getting the name of a contact man in the bank.
Oh, i have spent all the money.
