The Death of Mobile Signature?
This is one of the painful posts I have had to write in my life, but it is a post that must be written.
In 2004, I started utilising the services of the company to host some of my clients websites. The service was ok. Then it started degrading. As a believer in giving people opportunities, I persisted. After all, this was a young man trying to make a living in this difficult country.
But, it seems Mobile Signature could not manage its success. They expanded. Moved to bigger offices. Employed more personnel. But their service did not improve. Support calls not being answered. Services paid for not activated. Customer care officers just being rude.
Now all contact numbers are switched off. Emails delivered, not replied. Now, am on a man hunt for members of staff of Mobile Signature Ltd. Not to cause them harm, but to find a way of retrieving my domains which are locked in with them. I have lost a number of customers because of their poor lack of service.
Update: removed the name of one of the founding members of the company because he requested I remove it.
Webpage is optimized for Windows Explorer
I guess it is easy to say that when you have time long enough on the web, you get to see some things that others do not see. Then again, you come across some things so strange (never before seen by you).
This webpage (shown above) is optimized for “Windows Explorer”, not Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox or Opera or Safari or Chrome. No. You can only enjoy visiting the site if you open the web pages using Windows Explorer.
Now, officially, I have seen strange things.
From China with Noise
Yesterday evening, I decided to change my routine and took a stroll into the neighborhood. You know, enjoy the scenery. Took a while. On my way back, it was dark and suddenly it was dark. with the abrupt change of visibility came the familiar “Oh Nepa!”
As usual, PHCN has struck again. Counting, I think this was the sixth time it was happening today. Not strange anymore.
Suddenly again, visibility increased. Light is back, but this time, it came with noise. Lots of noise. Generators. Everywhere. Everybody had a generator. From extra small generators to extra large. Insane. Generators everywhere.
I reflected on the situation, when PHCN gives light, there is noise. When PHCN takes light, there is more noise. The initial noise comes from the speakers of those chinese electronics. Everybody can afford a hi-power sound system, as long as it plays. Loudly. Also, everybody can afford a generator, even if it is the small type.
All these made possible by the help of the chinese manufacturers. They are everywhere
Real Estate Search
In the market for an apartment. I need to move. Quickly.
I talked to a number of agents. Stating my request. I want a 2 bedroom flat, at a minimum. I won’t mind a mansion, provided I still pay the price of a flat. Studio flats (or self-contains as they are known here) are out of the question. I need space.
Heard numerous prices. 250,000 naira per annum for a 2 bedroom flat. Depending on the location, its expensive. For me. Out of range of my budget.
Saw a place today that fits into my budget. And it is quite close to my office. Splendid. Oh, but wait, I thing. It is on the first floor and there was to be another floor. Meaning, the “decking” is open. Heat.
Especially at night. I’ll have to get an AC, strong fans and a powerful generator. Apart from that, I like the apartment.
