MTN “Unloaded”
Whoever select the entertainment brands for MTN deserves a raise. Seriously. For some funny, virtually all their programmes have high entertainment values. Project Fame West Africa is HOT. Period.
Visited their site and met this.
From a design point of view, not bad. Could be a bit better, but not bad at all.
Clicked on the facebook link and got this:
I really dont feel this design. Not at all. Also, the “Be My Friend” performs a facebook search for a profile that does not exist.
Tried going to the root domain to see if there were other services. Met this:
Bad. MTN. Very bad. At least, a placeholder that sells your service would have been appreciated. Advice: tie in facebook, twitter and other social network feeds. Call me…. I could give you comprehensive advice.
Dare is on Fire…at least tech wise
Only a few artists in Nigeria actually use tech to their advantage. Some have websites, just because others are having websites. Dare Art Alade (or rather his management team…whatever) has gone ahead and set up his blog at his url – http://www.dareyonline.com/
I love it. I desperately love and will definitely subscribe. I only hope they will continually update it and not let it become stale like a popular website that had the same look for over 2 years.
I am looking forward to the new album. I love the “Not the Girl” track. Awesome.
I must commend http://www.g-raff.com on a lovely modification of wordpress. Big up guys.

Morachi, you’ve tried, you’ve registered your domain name for your business. And you went and dumped an uncustomized free flash template on the site. Dont.
Work on it now. No excuses.

Poor Web Design: The Nigerian Factor 1
This is the first of a series of posts I intend making about poorly designed websites, especially in Nigeria. I did some of this research based on a comment made by a client of mine, a while back. I presented a proposal for a website and billed him a fairly decent sum. He countered by saying that he could get a website for less than a tenth of the quoted amount. He said he could get a site for NGN5,000. I told him it was (and is) possible, but the questions is "what will you get for that amount?"
I decided to go around and visit some Nigerian websites. Now, I do not say that this sites cost NGN5,000 or less or more. I am just pointing out poorly designed sites.
Our first victim is by a company I know pretty well. Infographics (http://www.infographicsnigeria.com/)
Beware of Fraud – Interswitch
A mail is going around, sent by http://www.interdatabase.net claiming to be from Interswitch. Please note that is a faudulent site. DO NOT ENTER YOUR CARD DETAILS.
I did a whois on the domain, and the registrant has gone to great lengths to hide his/her/their identity. As you can see from the whois information, it was registered on 15 October 2008. It screams FAKE all the way. Please be careful.
I did some investigating on the site, viewing the source, I found a link http://www.abbey.co.uk/CsAppsExp/Abbey/Internet/Abbey/html/demo_html_ebanking_0.htm Unless the fraudster is from the UK, I do not know the correlation.
When you submit the form, no matter what you input, it always sends you to an error page. Ofcourse, they must have stored your information.
The error page then takes you to another page, claiming to "update your information". Still fake.
^^ is the actual interswitch website.
Please pass this message to your friends.
Webpage is optimized for Windows Explorer
I guess it is easy to say that when you have time long enough on the web, you get to see some things that others do not see. Then again, you come across some things so strange (never before seen by you).
This webpage (shown above) is optimized for “Windows Explorer”, not Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox or Opera or Safari or Chrome. No. You can only enjoy visiting the site if you open the web pages using Windows Explorer.
Now, officially, I have seen strange things.
